For some years, we have heard from government,  that  they were concerned about affordable housing yet as David Hoare points out so clearly over $576,000 of the price of houses in Sydney is just government taxes and charges. Many of these charges were promised to be removed when the GST was introduced; but they remain today as a real barrier to home ownership even today. Any government serious about the housing crisis would remove these taxes before the election was called, I have been pointing this out for many years, but the government ears are stopped to real solutions as they do not give up space for promises in the campaign mode. We, the people, need real solutions and not promises that can be ignored after the election is over. Every loan and insurance contract carries a further burdensome stamp duty tax as well, Time for a new deal!
