The roll of leadership in Local Government is to be a servant leader – that is a person who things what can I do for the community? – But never what can I receive from the community?

Too often people elected to the the local government councils are seeking direct or indirect benefits for themselves and this cause wastage in council funds which come mostly from the rate payers. We seek to be reflective of true servant leaders giving of ourselves to serve the community in all ways that we can. yes it is true that as for anyone that performs work that reasonable renumeration should be extended to them. A workmwn is worthy od his hire and the hire of a workman shoul be worthy of the work performed.It is important when spending other people’s money we must be frugle and never wasteful, too often we have seen wasteful expenditure at all levels of government and this must be stopped. Councils must concentrate on the essentials and not to be sidee tracked in things that are not their responsiblity. The recent past has seen a number of things where councils have been involved in things without the support of all the community, some times these projects have consumed considerable funds of councils, and all the funds of councils are coming from the ratepayers of the council area. this is inaproperate expenditure in nour view.
