The real question is should public transport be private or publically operated?

I am never happy with the Public-private contracts that are let unless the public have a full disclosure on the terms within the contracts. There are two conflicting concerns when it comes to public transport. I have worked for a private bus company that was doing some services under the public-private contract. The routes that were under the supply of public transport were contracted to receive a fee to operate the service. if the service was to attract over 45 people per service then the service received a lesser amount for the service. The problem is that the promotion of the service to become a non-supported service was not strong on the agenda of the private company. Now when it comes to the Newcastle busses service that was to be run by a private contractor is not an improvement in the service delivery nor is the standard of the buses used any improvement and the cost of supplying the service has not been sufficiently reduced to warrant the service to be “privatized” Complaints concerning the service are not being fully addressed according to matters raised with me. Unfortunately, we do not see any historical financials so as to be able to establish the two most important issues

1, Improving services;

  1. Improving financial outcomes

As there is no evidence to establish that there are any benefits and that the imperial evidence of the people who are pleased with the service are hard to find. Public transport in any city must be carefully coordinated so as to reduce the commuting times across multiple services and this is best managed by a single coordinating service, the connections between services is an essential characteristic that is needed for a good smooth public transport operation.

The experiment is a dismal failure and there needs to be  return to a government run service that is designed to assist the public to get to places they desire to go as quickly as possible
